The Andaman resort is situated on the Datai Bay, which you get to by taking a winding road into the heart of the rainforest away from the crowds of Langkawi (there are only two hotels on this stretch of beach). Voted by National Geographic as the “9th best beach in the world” Datai Bay has predominantly coral sand which is softer than sea shell sand, and doesn’t get too hot in the sun. Together with other parties the Andaman resort has taken upon itself to restore and help conserve the Andaman Reef which was badly damage during the 2004 tsunami. Although the Andaman reef is not ideal for snorkeling, it does provide a great trail for reef walks where one can learn more about marine biology. Want to know more about these conservation activities, then check out the resort’s website or this blog.
