Masseria Susafa is surrounded by magnificent farmland, herds of sheep and belled cows. It is a working farm in Sicily’s rustic, hilly Landscape. The farm has been under the stewardship of the Saeli-Rizzuto family for five generations and this can still be felt today in how the Masseria is operated. It is a fabulous stone structure set in lovely grounds with everything you can wish for, such as a bar, restaurant, pool and onsite parking.
The 18 guest rooms retain their original ceiling beams and antique tiles in an environment of age-softened austerity. It is small farmhouse but it feels spacious, with lots of calmness. Everything reads practical minimalism, from the beds’ clean country linen and the worn window shutters to the spacious, en-suite bathrooms. The secluded location makes it a great place to relax and unwind!
With regard to sustainability, Susafa wants to respond to the call of a return to origins, to good food, to the different ingredients according to the seasons and to the rhythms that still today mark their production and harvesting. They have their own vegetable and herb gardens, an orchard where they have recouped native species and reintroduced ancient varieties of fruit typical of the Madonie mountains and of course their organic olive tree farm!
